” You played incredibly well, touched my soul in a way I was not prepared to experience! Many thanks for a fantastic concert.! We will be back for more!”
“ Knocked to the floor… blown away… that’s what the eminent Bauer Quartet from Floby, Gudhem and Falköping did to me. Music can be steady, cacophonic or out of tone. But sometimes it can be simply beautiful, just amazingly beautiful. This is the case with the Bauer Quartets music- amazing and beautiful. Helena Kahrs, Lisa Bauer, Anders Granström and Jenny Tidqvist-Karlsson, you are just plain amazing!”
What´s happening? With support from Johan Adolf Malmstens memory fund and Helge Ax:son Johnsons foundation we are now working on a unique musical show about John and Ester Bauers lives that will premiere mid-2024. We promise a strong and inspiring experience that touches the soul, where the audience can follow the Bauer couple´s short but intensive life, love for art, each other and what it cost them in the end. The theme throughout the show mirrors the timeless perspective of male - female, career - family, stay together - separate. The manuscript is written with help from letters John and Ester Bauer left behind, but also unique stories and facts passed down from Hjalmar, John Bauers brother, through Lisas grandmother, his daughter.
About us Our vision in The Bauer Quartet is to touch the souls of people with a combination of visual, textual, and musical artistry combined with a great stage presence, giving a total experience touching all senses. We do this by combining our specially composed music with John Bauers pieces of art, stories from the Bauer family and excerpts from letters John and Ester wrote to each other. Our singer, Lisa´s close family relationship with the famous artist has kept his artistry and history with her since she was a child. Because of this we have become closer to his work through our music that Jenny, the quartet´s pianist has composed unique songs inspired by John´s paintings, life and the nature he so loved. The traditional combination of piano and song receives an enriching clang and has a broad reach with the addition of Helenas light and whimsical flute and Anders fantasy rich and rhythmical bass.
We want to further Bauers cultural heritage and create environments like glades on the doors of fantasy in our concerts and shows.
During 2023 we have been privileged with many exciting happenings such as more of our music, receiving three awards, recording and releasing the album “Dimmornas Dans” (Dance in the mists), sold-out-concerts, our arrangement “Musik möter Konst” (Music meets Art") during Falköpings countys’ Art night. Last but not least, we were the recipients of the Golden Apple after our show during Art night.
We have recently started working with the Danish artist Helle Bang through the Melefors Gallery in Linköping. Helle has created a series of bronze statues from John’s art and we participated in the premier weekend of her Bauer collection. You can find these beautiful statues here: melefors.com/pages/john-bauer. We also work at children’s shows with new music: ”Pojken, trollen och äventyret” from the children’s story of the same name written by Walter Stenström and illustrated by John Bauer.
